Due to the time and information intensive nature of holistic consultations, we are a fee for service practice and are not contracted with any insurance companies. This allows us to have longer, un-rushed appointments and make the best choices for your health without interference from insurance companies and their limitations of care.
Medical fees are based solely on the time the doctor dedicates to your family.
Payment in full for services is due at time of visit.
PPO, HSA or Cafeteria Plan? We’ve got you covered. At the end of your visit, we’ll provide you with a coded insurance superbill for you to submit to your provider for possible reimbursement. Learn more about insurance strategies for our practice.

PEDIATRIC APPOINTMENTS
Michael Allen MD
Dr. Allen’s pediatric fees are $110 for every 15 minutes or $440/hour (15 minute minimum per patient seen). Most initial consults last 60 to 75 minutes, depending on the complexity and the resulting time spent with the family (the more complex, the longer time usually spent). However, some initial appointments are as short as 30 minutes, or for more complex issues can last longer than 75 minutes.
The following appointment lengths and charges are general guidelines only. The actual fee will vary per patient depending on the complexity of care and the actual time Dr. Allen spends on your child (this includes Dr. Allen reviewing intake form, emails, labs, and prior medical history, as well as time during the actual appointment.)
New Patient Consultations
Initial consultation appointment for new patients with complex issues or illness. Usually 1-1 1/2 hrs. Prorated every 15 minutes
New Patient Establish Care
Initial consultation appointment for healthy new patients wishing to establish care. Usually 30 minutes- 1 hour
Follow-up Appointments
Routine office visit for ongoing treatments and problems Usually 15-30 minutes
Acute/Sick Appointments
Depending on complexity of issue. Usually 15- 30 minutes
Sports/School/Physical (existing patients) Usually 15-20 minutes
Infant/Well baby/Child Physicals Usually 15-30 minutes

What should we expect at our first appointment with Dr. Allen?
Dr. Allen’s goal at the first visit is to develop a complete picture of your child and who they are as an individual, so that he better understands them. To do this we have parents fill out a seven-page comprehensive history from birth through the present, followed by an evaluation.
During this evaluation, Dr. Allen observes your child while he takes detailed notes on your child’s entire life, including
Significant physical and emotional events
Birth
Breastfeeding
Growth & development
Illnesses
Vaccination history
Medical problems
Challenges and gift
Sleep
Nutritional, and digestive history
Personality and behavior, etc
He takes the time to really listen to both you and your child’s concerns and questions. Then he performs an extensive and specialized physical exam, utilizing his knowledge of human physical, emotional and spiritual development, to uncover areas of imbalance, sometimes even before obvious symptoms are apparent.
If any imbalances are identified, treatment strategies will be developed to assist your child to achieve balance and health once again.
Scheduling Appointments
Please call our office to schedule appointments. Our office hours are M,T,W,F 9:30 – 5:00pm. We are closed Thursday’s and on the weekend.
Same day acute appointments are available, but please call first. We do not take walk-in’s.
The length of your visit depends on the complexity of the issue you are discussing. For instance, a first time consultation to establish a healthy child or a follow-up appointment will be much shorter than a consultation to address more complex issues.
New Patient Appointment Deposit A deposit must be paid at the time of scheduling to confirm all new patient appointments.. This deposit will be applied to your appointment or used towards the fee for missed appointments/late cancellation per our Cancellation Policy below
Cancellation & Missed Appointments Policy
We schedule longer than average appointments so that you do not feel rushed and have plenty of time to go over all your questions and concerns.
Missed appointments are costly and take away valuable time from others. Please read our Cancellation/Missed Appointment policies and be aware of your commitment as a patient of our practice.
New Patient MD Consultation
If for any reason you decide to cancel your appointment, your deposit is forfeited. However, if a scheduling conflict arises and you need to reschedule, we require a 1 week notification of your request in order to honor your deposit for another day. Otherwise, your original deposit would be forfeited, and you would need to provide an additional non-refundable deposit to secure any new future Initial Visit with Dr. Allen.
Due to the nature of our practice and the in-depth consultations, New Patient appointments with Dr. Allen are scheduled for one-two hours and it is hard to fill these slots last minute. Therefore there are no exceptions to our cancellation policy for New Patient appointments.
Established Patient & Therapy Appointments
Your appointment must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 2-business days prior to your appointment time or you will be charged. Please call 916-803-7040. Phone calls are the preferred method of cancellation/rescheduling. If you choose to cancel or reschedule your appointment via email, you are responsible to make sure that email was received and responded to by our staff within the 2-business day time period. Failure to do so will result in a full charge of your office visit.
Our desire is to best serve our patients. Last minute cancellations/re-scheduling impact our ability to offer comprehensive holistic care to patients efficiently and effectively. We can no longer absorb the cost of patients missing their appointments. As soon as you know you need to cancel or reschedule, please call the office so that we may offer your appointment time to someone on the waiting list. We also understand emergencies happen. We will consider these on a case-by-case basis. Appointments not cancelled within these guidelines or missed will be charged $75-$200depending of type of appointment scheduled.
